Emerald City Roasters: Brand Story

Emerald City Roasters: Brand Story, hero image

Emerald City Roasters has been sourcing single-origin coffee for Capitol Hill’s morning crowd since 2018. What they hadn’t done yet was tell that story on camera. Founder Nadia Osei had a specific vision: she wanted to show the work, not just the product.

We spent two days embedded in the roastery. Day one was documentary-mode: following the roasting process start to finish, capturing the moment-to-moment decisions that separate commodity coffee from something worth talking about. Day two was directed: Nadia on camera, talking about the Guatemalan cooperative she works with, the green bean sourcing trips, the way temperature and timing create flavor.

Post-production ran two tracks simultaneously: a 2-minute brand film for the website homepage and social, and a 5-minute extended cut for pitch presentations and press. Both were color graded in the same warm amber-to-espresso palette: cream highlights, deep shadow.

The Instagram Reel version (0:45) pulled 34k views in the first month.

Services: Pre-production consultation, two-day shoot, full post-production, music licensing Deliverables: 2:00 brand film (web), 5:00 extended cut (press), 0:45 social cut (Instagram/TikTok) Location: Emerald City Roasters, 1408 Pine St, Seattle

"Our customers keep asking where the video lives because they want to share it. That's exactly what we wanted: something our regulars would send to a friend."
